Dried Liver -Nutritional Powerhouse! (And maybe key to me being fertile into my late 40's?)
Просмотров 1,8 тыс.5 месяцев назад
Why do we call things that we aren't excited about "chopped liver," when chopped liver is literally one of the most nutritious (and prepared well, also delicious) foods on the planet? Eating a little liver several times a week is probably much better for you than taking vitamins in pill form, and was a key part in both my preparation for and recovery from Alone Frozen. And holy cow, did it ever...

    Yes, hunting is more respectful than our crazy system..But, we as a species have killed 60% of all wildlife in the last 50 years, and 99% over the last few thousand years so that we can have industrial farming, 8 billion people and play suicidal monopoly, and have food security with profits..Except the laws of nature, the laws of thermodynamics and the laws that govern complex systems are final, non negotiable, and won't allow us to continue on like this..Which means civilizational collapse and the end of what wildlife remains..Hunger Games meets Mad Max..Although hunting won't change any of that, the proper respect of wildlife and understanding the invaluable services they provide, and understanding that a healthy Earth with biodiversity allows us to exist, very well could..EVERY civilization to EVER exist, has been a losing race, to discover remedies for the predicaments that they produce..And we have created more severe predicaments than all of the other civilizations combined..We are the pinnacle of human civilization based on greed, ego and violence(immaturity)..There will be no living on Mars, that's fantasy..If we make it another 2 decades without 7 billion people starving to death, it would be a miracle.That is our true situation..Most don't have access to the information I do, and can not articulate these issues, but almost everybody can sense or feel it coming..Because the warning signs are all around us..

    Just now watched your 2 seasons of "Alone"..As I've been busy building my home cabin, garden, fruit trees, solar system, etc.,I grew up hunting, fishing and trapping, and of course everyone knows, it's how we evolved, and why it's in our blood..But, I also have advanced degrees in chemistry and biology, and am a student of human history and human psychology..We don't live in the same world we evolved and adapted to..Going by weight, my educated guess is that we've killed 99% of the wild animals, fish, birds, and amphibians on Earth, in the last few thousand years and are making real progress on destroying insect populations also..And mostly for growing food, and animal husbandry, and our absurd game of monopoly that we've decided to play..We live in the age of mass extinction..That is reality, no matter who disagrees, the numbers don't lie, it's a fact, and getting worse every second, exponentially..We destroy 100,000 acres of rain forest everyday, 150 acres a minute..The damage to the oceans and rivers are even more severe, with acidification, poisoning, species destruction..It's all coming to a head, in the next two decades, as far as human civilization is concerned..Every human civilization to EVER exist, has been a losing race, to discover remedies for the predicaments that they produce, bar none..We live amongst their ruins..Nature produced us, but is neutral, except for when we over populate, like every other species, it's called carrying capacity, and effects humans probably more than any other mammal on the planet, because of the number of species we rely on, that we are destroying..Although our technology delays and masks these realities, our technology can only be temporary because of it's compounding multiplying consequences, which is also a fact, unrecognized by most..All civilizations break down, collapse and die, and their gods die with them..Which is also a obvious fact, undeniable...No animals choose to die in our traps, or they would have went extinct long ago, that's not a thing, just a transparent rationalization.. Killing wild animals these days, may be the very worst thing that we can do..Although, when this world wide civilization collapses, humans will kill everything that is left..Just food for thought, based on facts, I certainly don't claim to know the answers..Well, I know that the reason we can't escape the cycle of civilizational collapse is because greed, ego and violence has infected our decision making process, and the consequences continue to compound and multiply until cascading collapse becomes inevitable..We are to immature to wield our oldest technologies, like shovels, let alone what we have today..Good luck discovering remedies for nuclear war, mass extinction and an environment changing a thousand times faster than it's inhabitants can adapt... I do think you did well, and are very likable..Congrats..

    There is always a bigger picture for every argument, even yours...I go on trips in Alaska, Montana, Idaho and Wyoming, and live partially off of the land when I do so..Having degrees in biology and chemistry, I'd like to think I can see the bigger picture that isn't always recognized..While there is no life without death, 8 billion humans are destroying the environment in so many different ways, wild mammals have declined by 85% because all of our activity, factory farming, mining, cities, it's an endless list of reasons that all trace back to us, and we are changing the climate hundreds of times faster than almost all creatures can adapt moving forward over the next few decades, including ourselves..There are real reasons that we live in the rubble and ruins of every civilization that came before ours..All civilizations break down and collapse and die, bar none..Every civilization to ever exist has been a losing race to discover remedies for the predicaments that they produce..And our civilization is pinnacle of this cycle..It is very likely we will take everything bigger than a mouse down the pathway to extinction..While I don't think that there is anything humans will do, to stop the very worst from happening, there is a good argument to just let wild creatures alone..I do understand that prey animal populations need to be kept in balance, and western countries do very good in that regard..But soon there will be no habitat left, with a changing climate, and many wars over the entire planet..Greed, ego and violence infects the decision making process, and the results are always the same, except this time it's the entire planet, instead of an empire...There are no answers, we are far too immature to mass produce any technology, and we won't mature over the next few decades, that's not possible..

    • @realeyesrealizereallies6828
      @realeyesrealizereallies6828 2 месяца назад

      Just for context, when Europeans came to North America, for 4 hundred years the best economic activity was fur trapping, which every indigenous nation was also heavily involved in...Those animals provide services for the environment and create habitat, which is disappearing even in the wildest places..And the check is coming due..

    Hi. Great video. I always wondered how you would be able to prevent the tool from rusting out on you in a long term survival situation. You did great on Alone. You are an inspiration to all. I remember Les Stroud using one around salt water in the show Survivorman. Many have used it on the show Alone. I recently went to use mine which I keep in my garage. It was really rusty and most of the tools were nearly impossible to get out because of the rust. Wouldn’t that be a concern to a survivalist? If you have any suggestions, I’d appreciate it. Thanks again. 😊

    I'm glad that you addressed society's attitude towards weight gain because it was certainly first and foremost on my mind and probably a lot of other women's when you were talking about the changes that your body went through in preparation and recovery . I don't think being thin is really about health for a lot of women but what is considered fashionable and desirable . It's sad but some women actually take healthy as an insult that they are more proportional and no longer unattainably skinny .

    I believe ancestral skills are a portal to freedom from the matrix of industrialized society and all that it entails. These skills provide a way of living that was considered normal for thousands of years. They were so common, they were taken for granted. Now dependent on much of what the modern world provides, we are having to relearn these valuable skills in order to provide a better life for ourselves outside of modernity. I have a dream of creating a network of teachers in the areas of ancestral skills, gardening and composting, archery, and building of Earthship type homes for the goal of training people in the skills necessary to be independent of the system and modern manufactured goods. To give people their freedom back... and I want to start with American Indians. Our nation owes these people (of which I am a small percentage) more than we could ever repay. However, if training in these kinds of skills begins a trend of setting people free and helping them to live without the system that enslaves or deprives them, I want to be in the center of that. Ancestral skills is where it starts... true, original, self-sufficiency; freedom.
